Diane Wergeland, Office Technology
Welcome to my profile. I am Diane Wergeland, and I have been an instructor in the Office Technology Department since 1989. Currently I teach Business English, Business Communications, Business Presentations, Word Processing Concepts and Applications, Desktop Publishing Concepts and Applications, Introduction to Computer Software, Office Procedures, Office Management, and Employment Portfolio. Also, I coordinate the Internship opportunities for our Office Technology students.
My undergraduate degree was completed in Business Education and English at Minnesota State University, Moorhead. I finished my final year of undergraduate education at Minnesota State University, Mankato, through the Common Market Program. My graduate degree was completed at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks (Go Sioux!) in Business Education and Career and Technical Education.
Over the years my work experience has included working as an administrative assistant for an environmental advocacy group, as an administrative assistant for a community-based health education consortium, as a business teacher based in Waseca for a group of school districts, and as a high school coordinator for a career and technical program in LeSueur. I, also, have had the opportunity to be a stay-at-home mom. My volunteerism has spanned too many community and church organizations to even mention. Within the educational sphere, I have held extracurricular positions from prom advisor to department chairperson to everything in between. For the 2008-2010 school years, I will be serving as the President for the SouthEast Minnesota Business Educators, Inc. This past year included coordinating our new Administrative Management Associate of Science (AS) Degree option for students, which will be available Fall 2008.
On a personal note, my husband Mark and I have been married for almost 35 years and currently reside in Bridgewater Township. We have three grown sons: Bryce, a graduate of the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland; Brett, a graduate of Concordia College in Moorhead; and Blake, a graduate of St. Olaf College in Northfield. My husband has been a teacher, coach, and school administrator for 34 years.
So, I hope you realize the importance I place on your education! I genuinely believe education is indeed the key to success. My goal is to assist you as you weave your way through your educational program. Enjoy your time with us at South Central College. I look forward to working with you.
