Patricia Linehan, Psychology
Hi! I'm Dr. Patricia Linehan. I've been teaching psychology since I was a graduate student at Purdue University. I started that Ph.D. program in educational psychology in 1989, 8 months pregnant with my third child, with a 2 year old and 4 year old in tow and a husband flying TDY every other weekend. So, when you tell me you are busy.hey, I personally understand.
I've taught for Indiana University, Purdue, St. Mary's, MSU-Mankato, William Penn University, and South Central. OK, by now you have figured out that I'm not 25! Actually, I'm 56 years old and happy for every year I've spent on earth. I've had an interesting life. I've backpacked the Rockies in Montana and the Cascade Range in Washington. I lived in a little cabin all by myself (well, dogs and cats included) for four years in the foothills of the Rockies in Colorado. I am the author of 3 books and have another one coming out in spring. Life is so full of interesting things to see and do and try that I hope I live to be 100! I am never bored.
I am married to a retired Lt. Colonel in the Air Force, have 3 sons ages 17 to 21, and live on a mini-farm. I sold my sheep last year, but I still have 4 dogs and too many cats to legally mention. (We need to start a foundation for stray and castoff cats!) I love gardening and maintain a meditation labyrinth which is 95 feet in diameter and planted with over 1200 perennials. You are welcome to come visit me in June/July when everything is trying to bloom at once. I'm telling you all this so you get a sense of me as a person. When I'm talking about adolescence it isn't just "research knowledge".I've been one and I have them! I think one of my strengths as an instructor is telling little stories that make concepts understandable. This is my first online class, so I hope that I am able to maintain that special part of teaching.
