Peter Johnson, Computer Careers
Hello! I'm Peter Johnson, a full-time instructor at South Central College in North Mankato, Minnesota.
I have been working in the computer field for over fifteen years. When PCs first came out I began computerizing our family business and over the course of eight years ended up being president of the company. After a few years I discovered I preferred computers over sales and changed careers back into programming. I've worked for SuperValu in the Twin Cities and Taylor Corporation in Mankato, Minnesota, and currently act as a programmer/web consultant for several companies.
I've been teaching since 1999 and currently teach web technology courses including Java, JavaScript, ASP, PHP, XML, Visual Basic, and XHTML courses.
I earned my bachelor's degree from Concordia St. Paul in Communications and Business Organization just a few months before I celebrated my second 25th birthday.
I met my wife on the Internet in 1994, just as the Web was starting to catch people's attention. Marianne was from Brooklyn, New York and I lived in Mankato "Little-House-On-The-Prairie", Minnesota, so our meeting seemed pretty incredible at the time. Between us we have two children, Katie and Micah. Micah has his own web company named OculisMedia located in Minneapolis.
When I'm not using the left-side of my brain (writing lesson plans, learning a new language, or looking over student projects) I try working with the other side of my brain by painting watercolors and taking digital photographs.
