Meet Your Instructor

Stacy Hohenstein, Medical Laboratory Technician/PhlebotomyFaculty photo

Hello everyone! My name is Stacy Hohenstein and I am excited to be your online instructor this semester.

I hail from the great state of Iowa! Go HAWKS/CYCLONES! I moved to the Twin Cities after graduating college and experienced that rat race until I met my husband and decided to slow things down a little by moving to Saint Peter. I currently reside there with my husband, Mike and our dog, Pike.

I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Wartburg College and then went on to receive my Medical Technology certification from Minnesota State University.  After graduating from Wartburg I moved to the Twin Cities and worked as a pharmacy technician for Hennepin County Medical Center – it was a great experience and by working in the hospital I was able to see the different branches. So after working for seven years I went back to get my Medical Technologist degree because I have always had a passion for lab work. After getting my certification I moved to Saint Peter, MN and worked at Rivers Edge Hospital, which was a great experience too because I got to see how smaller hospitals are run. At this same time I started teaching for the MLT program at Rasmussen College and found I really enjoyed teaching, so now I am at South Central teaching you!

I look forward to getting to know you better and enrich your minds with the world of laboratory medicine!
