Cristen High, Medical Assisting

Faculty PhotoI am the Medical Assistant Program Director and Instructor within the Allied Health Department. I teach the Medical Assistant courses as well as coordinate and place Medical Assisting students for their internships. I have been a national certified Medical Assistant for over 15 years and teaching in higher education for 10 years.

I received my Associates of Applied Science in Medical Assisting from Dakota County Technical College,  Bachelor of Arts Degree in Healthcare Management from Metropolitan State University and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership and Higher Education Administration from Minnesota State University, Moorhead. Prior to teaching at South Central College I taught Medical Assisting at Rasmussen Colleges Mankato Campus.

Aside from work I have four lovely children that keep me on my toes. We enjoy camping, boating and kayaking as well as take in sporting events. During winters we like tubing and sledding as well as catching up on movies. Winters I have learned to love as I am not a Minnesota native. I grew up in Oregon and enlisted in the United States Navy while in high school where I was stationed in sunny California for over 6 years. So….the 9 month winters (kind of joking) took a little getting used to.
