Mary Heminover, College Readiness
Hi, I'm Mary Heminover, and I have been teaching for over 30 years. When I started teaching, mimeograph machines and ditto machines were used for making copies. The Xerox was still a vision in the inventor's mind. I have had the pleasure of teaching shorthand, which has become extinct; I have also taught typing (not keyboarding) on the good old typewriter with no automatic correction key. Times have certainly changed. Today, I have been given the opportunity to put a course online...Employment Search Skills. Who would have dreamt 30 years ago that a student could take a class and never enter the classroom or meet the instructor in person? Education has sure come a long way. I can only dream of what education will be like in the next 30 years-education will probably come from the moon. I feel fortunate to have taught and to have been involved in the endless changes in education.
